The third stop of the SLS Championship Tour 2025 proved to be a celebration of Brazilian skateboarding, with the Spot Takeover event delivering both spectacular skating and emotional moments that had the packed crowd on their feet.
Brazilian dominance despite key absences
Felipe Gustavo stole the show in his hometown of Brasília, not only securing victory in the men's street competition but also revealing some life-changing news. In a heartwarming moment between runs, Gustavo announced to the roaring crowd that he and his partner are expecting a baby girl, turning his competitive triumph into a double celebration that epitomized the family atmosphere Brazil brings to skateboarding.

However, the competition was notably missing several big names. Gustavo Ribeiro's absence due to injury opened the door for his younger brother Gabriel to step up as a replacement, though he couldn't quite match his sibling's consistency. Angelo Caro was also spotted on the sideline nursing what appeared to be an injury, while other Brazilian heavyweights like Kelvin Hoefler and Carlos Ribeiro were nowhere to be found.
Taking advantage of opportunity
The absence of major Japanese and American contenders further tilted the playing field toward the home favorites. This created space for Dominick Walker to emerge as the lone non-Brazilian finalist, showcasing the international depth that makes SLS compelling even when stars are sidelined.
Perhaps the day's biggest surprise came from Gabryel Aguilar, who parlayed his wildcard jam victory into a podium finish, claiming third place with the kind of fearless skating that defines Brazil's next generation.

With hometown hero Felipe Gustavo taking the top spot ahead of Giovanni Vianna's strong second-place finish, Brasília delivered the kind of authentic skateboarding moment that reminds us why this sport continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
The SLS tour rolls on, but this stop will be remembered for celebration above competition.
